Shaping the teaching of the future
As part of the “Universitas@Jena” project, the teaching architecture of FSU is to be modernized. In light of multiple crises, far-reaching transformation processes such as digitalization, and growing societal polarization, students are to be specifically prepared for future challenges and strengthened in their role as responsible actors in society. Three objectives are being pursued:
- Strengthening interdisciplinary teaching and learning
- Promoting innovative approaches to future-oriented teaching and the development of Future Skills
- Implementing participatory teaching and learning approaches
Implementation will take place in three innovative and flexible teaching and learning spaces:
- The Innovation Atelier for Academic Teaching creates space for the development of innovative teaching methods, participatory approaches, and the targeted promotion of high-quality teaching – including student-led teaching.
- The Development Lab for Study Program Design focuses on Future Skills as well as flexible and interdisciplinary study programs.
- The Transfer and Transformation Hub: Dialogue and Networking for Change strengthens connections and exchange with society.
Each space is filled with initiatives involving various stakeholders. The spaces are designed to be open in order to enable exchange and mutual inspiration between initiatives. This also allows initiatives to deliberately influence the further development of other spaces. In this way, teaching and studying at the University of Jena are being reimagined in a multidimensional way to overcome structural boundaries.
