Other places to find support
Counseling services and advocacy organisations
We advise you on how to deal with experienced or observed discrimination:
The counselling is of course free of charge for those seeking advice. Please note that the consultation is not legally binding.
We can advise you in German or English. On request, an interpreter can be appointed for other languages. This also includes written or sign language interpreters.
We listen to you, advise you and - if necessary and only with your permission - advocate for you with the relevant authorities. We provide advice by telephone, email, video service and, by appointment, in person. If you wish, we are also happy to do so anonymously.
We would like to draw particular attention to our Walk and Talk offer. During a walk, you can discuss your concerns with a person from the Diversity Office.

In the counseling process, we stand on the side of the person seeking advice. We name and define the partisanship in consultation. Together we clarify the goals.
Our understanding of empowerment is to strengthen the self-determination of people who are affected by unequal distribution of power or dominance. The focus is to empower those affected by discrimination to address the problems by themselves. Empowerment means talking about one's own life reality and perspective. It means naming one's own needs in order to overcome unequal treatment.
Der horizontale Ansatz beschreibt eine merkmals- und zielgruppenübergreifende Arbeitsperspektive, die die Vielzahl unterschiedlicher Diskriminierungsmerkmale im Blick hat und dafür sensibilisiert.
All your concerns will be heard by us. We are in contact with other advisory institutions at the University of Jena and local interest groups to provide expertise.
The counselling service is voluntary at all times and is based on the independence of the counselors. We act independently of parties and any political affiliations.
We make our counselling process and conditions transparent to you. If you have any questions about the traceability of the counselling process, please contact us at any time.
The counselling service is a save space and our confidentiality is fundamental to any professional counselling. The counselling is anonymous upon request.
Our counselling is free of charge, timely and local. Furthermore, there is the possibility to call in interpreters in case of language barriers.
Your concern is at the center of the counselling. What conclusions the person seeking advice draws from the counselling is entirely up to him or her. Counselling does not try to push the person seeking advice in certain socially or institutionally desirable directions.
We would like to make our services accessible. Tell us your support needs (e.g. wheelchair accessible rooms, language barriers, sensory impairments, cognitive limitations) for an individual solution and appropriate advice.
