Reporting a data breach

  • What is a data breach?

    A data breach is when personal data is accidentally lost, accidentally shared, or changed without permission.

  • Examples

    This is the case, for example, if an email containing personal data is accidentally sent to the wrong recipient, if a USB stick is lost, or if unauthorised persons are able to access data due to an incorrect configuration of an IT system.

  • Procedure in the event of a data breach

    In such cases, remain calm and contact the data protection officer as soon as possible.
