Ancient Studies deal with the entirety of all manifestations of Greek-Roman culture that can still be recognised today. You will acquire knowledge, skills and methods for dealing with the written and material heritage of the Greek-Roman cultural area and its afterlife in modern times. Introductory modules on the sub-disciplines provide you with basic knowledge of the content, history and methods of Classical Studies and Ancient History and its individual disciplines as well as an initial introduction to academic work and presentation. From the second year of study|academic year, you will acquire in-depth knowledge of the individual Classical Studies and Ancient History disciplines. You can specialise in the following areas: Ancient History, Greek Studies, Classical Archaeology, Latin Studies, Medieval and New Latin. In an internship of at least six weeks, you will acquire key qualifications related to the profession.
Multi-subject bachelor¡¯s programme
Picture: Sophie BartholomeThe Bachelor's degree is the first professional qualification. The standard period of study|regular programme length is six semesters in total, during which various types of courses (e.g. seminars, lectures, exercises or field trips|study trips) are offered for the individual modules.
A multi-subject Bachelor's degree programme consists of a major subject with 120 credit points (abbreviation: LP / 1 LP = 30 hours of attendance, preparation and follow-up work|follow-up activity, learning and assessed coursework and examinations) and a supplementary subject with 60 LP.
The degree programme in the major subject ?Alternative Studies? consists of seven compulsory modules and five of a total of 20 required elective modules. You will gain an insight into the professional world in an internship lasting at least six weeks.
Career opportunities:
A university entrance qualification, such as a general secondary school leaving certificate, is required for admission onto the study programme.

Latinum, knowledge of Greek (Ancient Greek), a modern foreign language
The Graecum is required for the specialization in Greek Studies. Proof by the time of registration for the Bachelor's thesis at the latest.
