This year’s three-week summer school, organized by TU Berlin and Tongji University in Shanghai, once again offers this opportunity:?

September 7–25, 2026 (in Shanghai, China)

Under the direction of sinologist Dr. Sigrun Abels, the course has been offered at the Sino-German College (CDHK) of Tongji University for 15 years.

Target audience and program:

The modular, three-week intensive program for 30 German students is primarily aimed at industrial engineers and economists, but is also open to students from other disciplines. It combines lectures by renowned China experts with intercultural management training and specialized courses taught by professors and corporate representatives.?

The program includes excursions to German and Sino-German companies, as well as daily Chinese language lessons and cultural excursions to the Shanghai area. This introduces future professionals to Chinese culture, politics, economics, and language; the accompanying cultural activities contribute to a better understanding between China and Germany and help build bridges between the two cultures.

Participation Fee and Services:

The participation fee is 12,500 RMB (approx. 1,580 �) and covers, among other things, the cost of hotel accommodation in Shanghai, program fees for teachers, admission fees, excursions, and overnight stays, as well as other program-related services. Individual airfare is not included in the participation fee and must be covered by the participant.?

ECTS credits:

Successful participation will be confirmed with a certificate. Students from TU Berlin and other Tongji partner universities (e.g., RUB, TUBS, TUM, KIT) can have the coursework completed during the Summer School credited with 6 ECTS credits.?
