EC2U webinar on living with dementia in residential care and what research tells us
Organised by the Virtual Institute for Health and Well-being for All (GLADE) of the EC2U – European Campus of City-Universities alliance, this webinar will present and discuss recent findings on the living conditions of people with dementia in long-term residential care settings.?
The webinar is?free?to attend and open to the communities of all EC2U Universities.?
Prior registration is required via this link: https://ls.uc.pt/index.php/263245?lang=enExternal link
The event is part of the alliance's knowledge transfer activities and will present findings from the research project SINDIA - Socio-spatial Inequalities in Dementia led by Miguel Padeiro, a professor at the University of Coimbra’s Faculty of Arts and Humanities (FLUC) and researcher at the Centre of Studies in Geography and Spatial Planning (CEGOT). The project explores how institutional environments, organisational conditions, and territorial contexts shape the experience of people with dementia in residential settings.?
The webinar is aimed at researchers, teaching staff, students, healthcare and social care professionals, policymakers and members of the public with an interest in ageing and dementia.?
The 90-minute programme will begin with a presentation of the SINDIA project findings, followed by sessions on specific aspects of residential care – including territorial inequalities and institutional organisation – and conclude with an open discussion designed to encourage dialogue between science, practice, and society.?
The initiative aims not only to share scientific knowledge in an accessible way but also to contribute to improving care practices and raising public awareness of dementia as a growing societal challenge.
