Dr. Sabine Hinrichs (Hamburg) will give a lecture on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at 6:15 p.m. on the topic of “China as a world power: Territorial claims from historical and historiographical perspectives.” The lecture will shed light on the historical foundations and historiographical interpretations on which China's territorial claims in various regions are based. It will discuss how historical narratives, political interpretations of history, and national cultures of remembrance contribute to the justification of current foreign policy positions and what role these play in the context of China's growing global importance.

The lecture will last approximately 45 to 60 minutes, followed by a discussion and an opportunity to ask questions.
