About the exhibition

Sexism means the discrimination, devaluation, oppression and violation of individuals on the basis of their gender. Sexism is rooted in gender stereotypes and role models that are based on a status hierarchy between the sexes, with masculinity being assumed to be the superior norm.
Sexism occurs in many different forms, both analogue and digital, and can lead to unequal distribution of participation, development opportunities and resources, to exclusion, sexual harassment and sexual violence. Sexism affects us all – and yet we are reluctant to talk about it.

The exhibition ‘Together Against Sexism’ presents information, facts and figures on the manifestations and effects of sexism. It addresses everyday sexism, sexism in the workplace, in public spaces, in culture and the media, as well as the connection between sexism and intersectionality. The exhibition also offers tips on how to counteract sexism in everyday life and shows that overcoming sexism is a task for society as a whole. The exhibition was developed by the ‘Together Against Sexism’ alliance in cooperation with the ‘European Academy for Women in Politics and Business’. It is presented in German, English

The exhibition will be shown at all universities in Thuringia on occasion of the 欧洲杯投注地址_明升体育-竞彩足球比分推荐 Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women on 25 November. We would like to thank the Thüringer Kompetenznetzwerk Gleichstellung for its coordination and support. The relevance of the topic is highlighted in the Federal Criminal Police Office's 2023 report on gender-specific crimes against women. This shows that in Germany, both the number of prejudice-driven crimes against women and crimes committed predominantly to the detriment of women increased in all areas in 2023 compared to the previous year.
