A place is to be created at the university where students and other interested parties can repair their bicycles themselves - with instructions, tools and in dialogue with others. The aim is to create a low-threshold, sustainable and solidarity-based tender for bicycles.
The service itself is free of charge; only new spare parts have to be paid for at the material price. The plan is to regularly open a self-help workshop as close to the centre of the university as possible. Users can carry out minor and major repairs there themselves, receive support if necessary and only pay for spare parts. There will also be the opportunity to repair orphaned bicycles and then give them away or pass them on at a favourable price.
The project is not only aimed at students, but also at people with limited funds or who have experienced flight. The existing ADFC workshop in Spitzweidenweg has already identified a great need. A guided tender for bicycle repair already exists at Jahnstra?e 8a. However, due to limited space, it can currently only take place every fortnight on Thursday afternoons.
Current status
The actual realisation depends on the question of space: suitable premises are currently being sought.
