From 29 August to 18 September, we will once again be taking part in CITY CYCLING Jena.
CITY CYCLING is an international competition in which the aim is to cycle as many everyday journeys as possible in a climate-friendly way for 21 days. It doesn't matter whether you already cycle every day or only rarely get on your bike. Every kilometre counts, especially if it would otherwise have been covered by car. The idea behind it: To get people excited about the benefits of cycling by letting them try it out for three weeks. The aim is to promote CO2-free transport for a liveable city, the expansion of cycling and climate protection.
And we at Friedrich Schiller University are also taking part with our own team. To join this team, you can register here for the city cycling programmeExternal link and then look for our team with the name: "Friedrich-Schiller-Universit?t". You can then either enter the kilometres you have covered online or have them tracked via the STADTRADELN app. Participation is of course free of charge.
Furthermore, we have prepared two accompanying campaigns in cooperation with ADFC Jena-Saaletal e.V.: We are giving away three bike locks to participants. The coding serves to deter thieves more quickly and, if necessary, to facilitate the return of the bike. In addition, there will be a road safety training course on 29 August from 4 to 8 p.m. for people who want to learn or relearn how to ride a bike. The Green Office is financing the participation of up to six university members. More information about the competition and road safety training.
