Kick-start your studies with the Deutschlandstipendium!

The aim of the Deutschlandstipendium is to support the best students and motivate them to achieve excellence—for the city of Jena, the local area, and Thuringia. Along with good marks, the factors taken into account during the selection procedure include commitment to social causes and special personal achievements.

The Germany Scholarships are advertised once a year at the University of Jena for the winter semester. The application period for the academic year 2026/27 begins on 15.03.2026 and ends on 15.04.2026. Information on the application process

  • Who can apply?
    • Applications are open to students of all nationalities and subject areas who are enrolled at the University of Jena, or who will be enrolled in the future (i.e. during the next funding period).

    • Funding is generally possible for all degrees (i.e. also for second or complementary degree programmes, master’s programmes, or programmes in tandem with employment). Part-time students and prospective students who are yet to be admitted can also apply for the Deutschlandstipendium.

    Funding is not offered to:

    • students who will have exceeded the standard length of their study programme during the funding period (exceptions are possible);
    • students who already receive an average of at least 30 euros a month in financial support on the basis of their talent and performance; or
    • doctoral candidates.

    Please note: If you wish to continue receiving the Deutschlandstipendium, you will have to reapply by submitting an extension request.

  • What documents do I have to submit?

    The documents must be uploaded with the application in the application portal. In the online application formExternal link, you have the option of uploading attachments under the corresponding headings. Please upload your attachments in PDF format.

    Please note: If any mandatory documents are missing, the application will be invalid!

    You must submit the following documents (mandatory documents):

    • CV in tabular form
    • current certificate of enrollment or letter of admission for the coming winter semester (if already available)
    • if the standard period of study will be exceeded in the coming winter semester: application for extension of the maximum funding periodpdf,?426?kb?·?de
    • proof of academic achievement: The type of proof of academic achievement required depends on the degree program and stage of study for which you are applying for a Germany Scholarship. Further information is available here.
    • if applicable, proof of awards or prizes (which must not be more than two years old at the start of the application period)
    • if applicable, proof of an internship, vocational training, or professional activity (which must not be more than two years old at the start of the application period)
    • if applicable, proof of social, university policy, ecological, social, or political engagement (which must not be more than two years old at the start of the application period)
    • if applicable, proof of special social, family, or personal circumstances
