What does it mean if a degree programme has ‘no admission restrictions’?
A whole range of degree programmes have no admission restrictions. This means that there are enough places available in that subject at the University. If you meet all the general and subject-specific requirements, you can enrol in subjects with no admission restrictions and you will be guaranteed a place at the University.
What does it mean if a degree programme has ‘admission restrictions’?
When it comes to very popular subjects, there are often more people interested than there are places available. For this reason, admission restrictions are introduced (e.g. Numerus clausus = NC). If a degree programme is subject to our own admission restrictions, you can apply for a place via the Friedolin 2.0 application portalExternal link. The places are allocated as part of the ‘dialogue-oriented service procedure’ (DoSV) on hochschulstart.deExternal link. This is a platform that takes care of coordinating applications and admission offers for degree programmes with admission restrictions. The DoSV portal is also used to process applications and centrally allocate places on Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmacy degree programmes, which are subject to national admission restrictions.
Once you have submitted your application, we will send you notifications to let you know whether you have been granted admission. If you receive a positive reply, you can confirm your acceptance of the study place by enrolling at the University.
